On October 22nd, 2013, Australian college student Aaminah Khan^[1] tweeted a sarcastic jab at the Brony fandom using the hashtag #mensrightsmovies.

Notable Developments

Khan's friends quickly chimed in on the jokey hashtag and within hours of Khan's tweet, #mensrightsmovies^[3] began spreading across the rest of Twitter. In the following 24 hours, the hashtag garnered more than 6,300 mentions, according to Topsy.^[6]
