On May 16th, 2021, Tumblr^[1] user isyanqar58-deactivated20210517 posted two images of a cat tucked into a bed like a person, gaining over 9,100 notes in nine months (shown below, left and right).

On an unknown date prior to September 1st, 2021, Instagram^[2] user @hollowcloth posted an image macro using the first image of the cat, writing "me in my silly little bed avoiding my silly little tasks" as top and bottom text. The meme was reposted to Tumblr^[3] by nerviovago on September 1st, gaining over 107,000 notes in five months (shown below).

The image went viral through a number of reposts, including a September 2nd, 2021, repost to Instagram^[4] that gained over 9,000 likes in five months, a September 10th post to iFunny^[5] that gained over 9,200 smiles in a similar span of time and a post to Twitter^[6] on October 2nd, gaining over 333,000 likes and 71,000 retweets in four months.

The meme also inspired variants.
