Me Explaining to My Mom refers to a two-panel image macro series in which an image of Quenlin Blackwell crying and an image of Ms. Juicy from the reality television series Little Women: Atlanta represent the facial expressions of someone attempting to convince their parent of something's importance.

Origin

On March 14th, 2018, Twitter user @quenblackwell tweeted a video of herself screaming. They captioned the tweet, "sometimes you just have to let it out..scream if you have to." The tweet received more than 51,000 retweets. 112,000 likes and 4 million views in a year and a half (shown below).


The following year, on January 12th, 2019, Ms. Juicy from Little Women: Atlanta posted an image of herself on a couch watching TV. She captioned the Instagram[1] post, "After a long day and hard #workout I'm Watching my #Cowboys Thanks sis for my blanket!!!! #MsJuicyBaby It dont matter if my COWBIYS win or loose Im always forever will be DC4L." The post received more than 10,000 likes in six months (shown below, left).

The following year, on March 5th, Twitter[2] user @lilr0use posted a screenshot from the @quenblackwell video (shown below, center). They captioned the video, "Yo explicandole a mi mama que un meme me da ansiedad y necesito psicologo."

Several days later, on March 10th, Twitter[3] user @sxturnsailor tweeted the image from the video and paired it with the image of Ms. Juicy becoming the earliest variant to label the images "child" and "parent." They captioned the tweet, "Yo explicándole a mi mamá el porque es indispensable que vaya a la peda // mi mamá." Within three months, the tweet received more than 195 retweets and 500 likes (shown below, right).

Spread

On May 22nd, 2019, Twitter[4] @stfutony tweeted the images with the caption "10 year old me explaining why i need a club penguin membership to have different colored igloos and puffles / My mom." Within one week, the tweet received more than 150,000 retweets and 557,000 likes (shown below).

The following week, on May 29th, PopBuzz[5] reported on the meme.
