On January 20th, 2020, Twitter ^[2] @ben_rosen shared the image with a screenshot from Spotify playing the "Star Spangled Banner." The post received more than 2,300 likes and 145 retweets in less than one month (shown below).

Weeks later, on February 9th, 2020, journalist Ken Klippenstein tweeted^[3] the image with a Spotify playing "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay. The post received more than 21,000 likes and 1,800 retweets in less than 24 hours (shown below, left).

Throughout the day, others shared variations, such as comedy Rob Delaney's variation in which Buttigieg is next to "Life is a Highway" from the Cars soundtrack.^[4] The post received more than 15,000 likes and 1,300 retweets in less than 24 hours (shown below, center).

That afternoon, journalist Jordan Uhl tweeted^[5] a variation that compares an image of 2020 democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders listening to music that the meme's author prefers.
