On February 17th, 2025, TikToker[1] @playboituna posted a video of himself dancing with the caption, "Hopeless romantics when someone literally does the bare minimum." The video used the song "Someone to Call My Lover" by Janet Jackson as the TikTok sound,[2] focusing on the lyircs, "Maybe we'll meet at a bar. He'll drive a funky car." Over two months, the video received roughly 242,900 likes (shown below). It is currently the first known viral video with the song.

On February 18th, 2025, TikToker[3] @s7naintmine posted a video of himself working at Starbucks, showing the song's lyrics on an iced coffee. Over two months, the video received over 2.4 million likes (shown below).
On March 28th, Nickelodeon actress Victoria Justice used the song in a viral TikTok,[5] amassing over 6.2 million likes in 18 days (shown below).
On March 29th, 2025, TikToker[4] @bvbblyrics posted an edit with seals set to the song, gaining over 904,500 likes in 17 days (shown below).
Similar edits surfaced during the same timeframe. For instance, on March 30th, TikToker[6] @k8te___ posted an edit using a scene from A Minecraft Movie between actress Jennifer Coolidge and a Minecraft villager, gaining over 1.5 million likes in 16 days (shown below).
On April 7th, 2025, TikToker[7] @ex7stence posted an edit with a slowed remix of the song, using the brat font for the lyrics. Over eight days, it received roughly 550,900 likes (shown below).
By April 15th, the song's primary TikTok sound[2] had amassed over 32,900 posts.
