Mauricio, I Can't Move It Move It Anymore is a viral video where an image macro of King Julien in a wheelchair from Madagascar is shown as an impersonator narrates, "Mauricio, I can't move it move it anymore," a reference to a scene in the movie where Julien dances to "I Like To Move It" by Reel 2 Real. The video was uploaded to TikTok in December 2020 and inspired animations and memes using the audio, seeing a resurgence as an original sound in late 2022.

Origin

On May 22nd, 2020, YouTuber[1] good content posted a video edit where King Julien from Madagascar gets into a car crash, paralyzing him. He says, "I'm paralyzed from the neck down and I cannot move it move it," garnering over 126,000 views in two years. This is a reference to a scene in Madagascar where King Julien dances to the song "I Like To Move It."

On December 1st, TikToker[2] @ghettoironman posted a similar video showing an image macro of King Julien in a wheelchair, saying the line, "Mauricio, I can't move it move it anymore," garnering over 2.9 million views in two years (shown below). On December 5th he reuploaded the video to TikTok[3] as an original sound, garnering over 350,000 views in the same span of time.

The video by @ghettoironman was cut and reuploaded by YouTuber[4] HUDSON7 on December 7th, 2020, garnering over 1.6 million views in two years. In the following weeks, people began using the audio from the clip in new videos and animations referencing the meme. For example, on December 24th, TikToker[5] @blinzzy.doodles posted a video featuring drawings of the meme over the audio, garnering over 180,000 views in two years (shown below).

On January 19th, 2021, YouTuber[6] Borgalorp posted an original animation about King Julien becoming paralyzed and being unable to move it move it anymore, garnering over 117,000 views in a year (shown below, left). On February 16th, YouTuber[7] Honeyveins posted a furry animation using the audio, garnering over 89,000 views in a year (shown below, right).

On November 15th, 2022, TikToker[8][9] @mauricio.moveitmoveit started posting bait-and-switch videos where the meme of King Julien in the wheelchair is shown in unexpected places. On November 20th and 24th, the account posted videos like this that gained over 11 million and 10 million views, respectively, in two weeks (shown below, left and right).

On December 1st, 2022, TikToker[10] @impulshell posted a 3D animation set to the audio, garnering over 727,000 views in four days (shown below, left). On December 3rd, TikToker[11] @urkrazie posted a 2D animation of the meme, garnering over 2 million views in two days (shown below, right).
