About

Master Trole Kid, also known as Cool and Trendy Kid with Sunglasses, is a type of photoshopped images depicting a prepubescent fashion model transposed at different angle. The images are accompanied by a series of poorly written Your Mom Jokes, hacking threats and other trolling remarks, meant to parody the habits of children on the Internet. The master trole is normally labeled with the year the image was made.

Origin

The original image (featuring a kid with sunglasses) comes from a stock photo titled "Cool and trendy kid with sunglasses isolated over white background".[1] This image was adopted and used by many other creators of master troles, however other images are often substituted as well.

The earliest instance of the complete meme is video by Youtube user blazi93 which features the image coupled with a high pitched voice saying "le master troll" repeatedly for 10 minutes.

Precursor

The images draw inspiration from Interior Monologue Captioning which involves placing randomly dispersed text on top of an image to represent what the subject is thinking or feeling, typically using the Comic Sans font.

Spread

The first image was posted to Imgur[2] by an anonymous user on May 8th, 2013 with the title "LE MASTER TROLE LOL HD", where it has received over 114,000 views as of May 2015. A Facebook[3] page was created soon after, which now has over 400 likes. After the spread of the first image, more users created different ones annually, each year featuring a new kid and different commentary, posting them to subreddits like r/cringepics.[4]
