ManMan (ClassDojo)

About

ManMan is a ClassDojo user who became the subject of memes on TikTok in March 2024 for their overly negative score. The memes depict ManMan as a sort of villain and hypothesize on what he could have done to gain such a negative score on the app, which is used by teachers to track student behavior, play classroom games and generally engage with students.

Origin

On March 20th, 2024, TikToker^[5] @fwakay posted a slideshow that begins with an X / Twitter post reading "Define 'crash out'" followed by a second slide showing a group of Class Dojo usernames. Most of the students have positive scores but the overall class score is negative because of one user, MANMAN, has a score of -68. The video gained over 2.1 million views in a week

Class Dojo is an educational program used by teachers to play games and activities with students, track their behavior and more. The name and character "ManMan" is possibly inspired by the Baby Kia song "Hi Grade," which features the lyrics, "I told Man-Man, 'Grab the pliers, make a necklace out his teeth.,'" although this is unconfirmed.

On March 22nd, 2024, TikToker^[1] @adam123abc1, posted a slideshow similar to the original where ManMan is shown to have a score of -1,541 (shown below).

Memes about ManMan became increasingly popular over the following days. On March 24th, 2024, TikToker^[2] @fortnite_is_pp posted a meme about ManMan being "the most dangerous man alive," garnering over 143,000 views in a day (shown below).

Also on March 24th, TikTokers^[3][4] @thatdudethatisjustthere and @totally_bleu posted memes about ManMan, the former showcasing a list of things ManMan purportedly did to get the low score, garnering over 552,000 views in a day, and the latter an animation depicting ManMan as a devil-like creature fighting a student with a positive score, Carlos, garnering over 433,000 views in a day (shown below, left and right).
