Mango Phonk refers to a phonk remix based on a viral video about mangos by Salvadoran TikToker @alfredolarin. Uploaded to TikTok in May 2024, the remix has been used in multiple viral videos, most notably a viral Cristiano Ronaldo fancam edit.

Origin

On July 5th, 2023, Salvadoran TikToker^[1] @alfredolarin uploaded a TikTok in which he prepares a dish from mangos, chili powder and other ingredients. In the video, @alfredolarin breaks a ceramic vessel, with mangos pouring out, and then proceeds to pour a bucket of mangos onto his head while screaming, "Mango, mango, mango!" The video (shown below) garnered over 17.9 million views and 749,000 likes in one year.

On May 6th, 2024, music producer and TikTok^[2] user @alsa.music posted a phonk remix based on the video. The upload (shown below) received over 1.1 million likes in four months (shown below).

Spread

In the following months, the remix saw viral spread on TikTok where it was used in various videos without a distinct format. For example, on May 22nd, 2024, TikTok^[3] user @bergamotik16 posted a video of herself flexing set to the remix that garnered over 8.6 million views and 1.4 million likes in four months (shown below).

As of October 9th, 2024, the song had been used in over 22,000 videos on TikTok.^[4]

On May 29th, 2024, @alfredolarin posted a YouTube^[5] short video set to the remix that garnered over 35 million views in four months (shown below).

On June 15th, 2024, TikTok^[6] user @cris6comp posted a Cristiano Ronaldo fancam set to the remix that gained over 41.2 million views and 2.6 million likes in three months (shown below).

As of October 9th, 2024, the sound from the TikTok^[7] was used in over 113,000 views on the platform.
