Man With Musical Fists refers to a series of remixes using a viral public freakout video in which a man with road rage punches a driver's car window several times in a rhythmic pattern, attempting to break it but failing. After the clip spread online in mid-2023, it was used in numerous remixes in which the punches provided the beat for a variety of songs.

Origin

On June 26th, 2023, Redditor HighTurtles420 posted to /r/crazyfuckingvideos^[1] a video of a man running towards their car and punching his window repeatedly before a woman pulls him away from the scene. According to the Redditor, the man punching their window "sideswiped" them. The video gained over 1,500 points in three months (shown below).

Spread

On July 8th, 2023, Instagram user @vibin.wit.tay^[2] uploaded the first remix of the video, having the punches set the tempo for an R&B song. The video gained over 1.9 million likes in two and a half months (shown below).

On July 12th, YouTuber Chewkz^[3] posted a skit based on the video, having the punches set the tempo for "Stand By Me." The video gained over 68 million views in two and a half months (shown below, left). He dubbed the video "The Man With Musical Fists," giving the meme its name. On July 15th, user The Kiffness^[4] remixed the video into a cover of "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes, gaining over 16.8 million views in a similar time frame (shown below, right).
