On July 7th, 2024, X^[1] user @Galio_OTP uploaded one of the earliest known viral posts featuring an unknown shirtless man punching sunflowers in a field (seen below) paired with a Plants vs. Zombies image and the game's zombie soundtrack playing every time the man hits a flower. The post amassed over 21 million views and 292,000 likes in four days.

The video quickly spread on social media in the following days, inspiring redraws and photoshops of the man as a zombie from the Plants vs. Zombies series. For example, on July 9th, 2024, X^[2] user @_tost50 drew the man as a zombie from the games (seen below), amassing over 3.9 million views and 260,000 likes in two days.

On July 10th, 2024, X^[3] user @ACPraiseTheFrom posted a version of the video as if the sunflowers were an Elden Ring boss. The post (seen below) received roughly 4,800 views and 100 likes in a day.
