The original graph, posted by X / Twitter user @rezeistweeting in late December 2025, ranks One Piece protagonist Monkey D. Luffy as the best written in comparison to characters like Naruto, Goku, Ichigo and more. The post inspired discourse and edits that replace the original characters with other characters.

On December 27th, 2025, X[1] user @rezeistweeting posted a graph captioned "Main characters how well written they are" ranking 11 anime main characters based on how well written they are, garnering over 2,600 likes, 1,700 reposts and 6.9 million views in four days.

On December 28th, 2025, X[2] user @mdhmpilled posted a version of the graph placing Madoka Kaname from Madoka Magica far above the other characters, garnering over 17,000 likes in three days.

The meme was reposted to the /r/MadokaMagica[3] subreddit on the 29th, garnering over 235 upvotes in two days.



Later that day, X[4] user @sosonosonosono posted an edit of the graph that places the four protagonists from the animated series Haha, You Clowns above all the other characters, garnering over 3,100 likes in two days.



Also on December 28th, X[5] user @sxox_o posted a version of the graph that places Reigen from Mob Psycho 100 above all the other characters, garnering over 11,000 likes in two days.
