MAGA Keanu Lookalike refers to a viral image shared in a pro-Trump Facebook page in which the poster believed he was posing with actor Keanu Reeves at a motorcycle show along with various Trump merchandise. However, the person he believed to be Keanu was merely a man who looked vaguely like the actor, causing people to mock both the poster and Keanu lookalike.

Origin

On February 13th, 2020, Facebook user Bill Montanary posted pictures to pro-Trump Facebook group OperationFlagDrop[1] he took at a Maryland motorcycle show. The pictures show him standing next to who he believed was actor Keanu Reeves, though the man was simply someone who looked like Reeves and not the actor. The lookalike was photographed posing with various Trump gear, leading Montanary to write he believed Keanu Reeves was a Trump supporter. The post gained over 5,600 reactions and 1,300 shares on the platform (shown below).

On February 15th, 2020, Twitter user @ogrods[2] posted a screenshot of the post, bringing the mistake to a wider audience as it gained over 34,000 retweets and 215,000 likes (shown below, left). This led others to joke about the difference between the lookalike Keanu and the real Keanu. Twitter user @WallaceRitchie[3] made a reference to a DirecTV advertising campaign that showed good and bad versions of actor Rob Lowe, gaining over 550 retweets and 8,200 likes (shown below, right).


Other jokes include a tweet by @FroyoBaggins[4] which used the We Have Food At Home format and gained 230 retweets and 2,100 likes (shown below, left). @PigBoyLeon[5] tweeted a series of photoshops which put the lookalike's face on Reeves, gaining over 100 retweets and 1,400 likes (shown below, right). The jokes were covered by The Daily Dot.[6]
