Madonna On My FYP refers to a series of parodies on TikTok of a video posted by pop singer Madonna in which her face moves close to the camera while her song "Frozen" plays in the background. The video sparked concern, as users felt Madonna's face was unnaturally bloated from plastic surgery, and the parody videos found users implementing face-altering filters on TikTok to mimic Madonna's viral video.

Origin

On March 28th, 2022, Madonna posted a video on TikTok in which she lip-syncs to her song "Frozen" while close to the camera.^[1] The video gained over 14 million views in 10 days (shown below left). On April 3rd, she posted a very similar video, gaining over 14 million views in three days^[2] (shown below, right).

Spread

Madonna's April 3rd, 2022, video drew a significant amount of attention online, as users on TikTok expressed concern about Madonna's looks due to what appears to be botox.^[3] Some have noticed that a brief glitch on Madonna's face in the video is due to a TikTok filter, meaning that her face looks particularly unusual due to a filter on the app.^[4]

The video became widespread enough that it spread to many people's "For You Page" on TikTok. This inspired many parodies in which TikTok users imitated Madonna's video, applying filters that made their lips and cheeks thicker. For example, user @adannaduru posted a video imitating Madonna that gained over 238,000 likes in one day^[5] (shown below, left). User @rennolympus^[6] posted a similar video, gaining over 72,000 likes in one day (shown below, right).
