Lysithea von Ordelia is a character who appears in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Her status as a powerful unit, including her ability to easily defeat the Death Knight have led Lysithea to become one the game’s most popular characters, spawning memes, and fan art.

Origin

Lysithea is a student of the Golden Deer house. She is the youngest student to attend the Officer’s Academy at Garreg Mach Monastery at 15 years old.^[1] Lysithea is a prodigy in the arts of magic, and also has a sweet tooth. Because of her age and short height, Lysithea hates being treated like a child. Lysithea desires to complete her tasks as soon as possible. This is because she was artificially implanted with a second Crest. While this makes her stronger in battle, it has the consequence of severely shortening her lifespan.

Lysithea’s popularity has led to a bevy of fan art from the fanbase. @true_jek_art uploaded art^[3] on Twitter on September 17th, 2019 that has over 7,400 likes and 2,500 retweets (shown below, left). @jivke uploaded art on Twitter of Lysithea holding the Death Knight’s helmet^[4] on August 24th, 2019. The post has over 16,800 likes and 5,700 retweets (shown below, right).

Fan art of Lysithea crossing over with other franchises has been made. Fanartist Kalesklok drew a parody comic of Lysithea based on a scene from The Spongebob Squarepants Movie ^[5]. The comic was uploaded to Twitter and the Fire Emblem subreddit on September 19th, 2019. The comic has gained over 2,100 likes and 772 retweets on Twitter, and 5,221 points (99% upvoted) on Reddit (shown below, left). @Chilruno posted a comic^[6] featuring Lysithea and the Pokemon Alcremie on Twitter on February 22, 2020, and it has gained over 8,900 likes and 2,600 retweets (shown below, right).

Lysithea’s popularity led her to become one of the four winners in the Fire Emblem Heroes online event Choose Your Legends: Round 4 ranking 2nd place in the Women’s Division with 42,462 votes.^[7]

The Death Knight

The Death Knight is a recurring boss in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The Death Knight appears as a powerful, but optional, foe throughout most of his appearances in Part I: White Clouds. He is capable of defeating most of the player’s units in one battle. One of his strongest counters is Lysithea, who’s personal skill allows her to earn double the skill experience from battle. Training Lysithea allows for her to quickly learn Dark Spikes T, a dark magic spell that deals extra damage when fighting horseback units. As the Death Knight rides on horseback, he easily falls to Lysithea in one round of combat.^[2] As such, fans have portrayed the Death Knight as being fearful of Lysithea.
