L's Intro refers to a series of an exploitable image taken from the Japanese popular manga Death Note.

Origin

The scene comes from chapter 19 of the manga.^[1] It's the first contact of the deuteragonist character L and the villain protagonist Light Yagami (Kira) and the first time that Kira was put into an inferior position.

Spread

This scene was much impressive to readers. And because the original manga had been popular subject for online parodies among the Japanese internet users, this scene also had been used in them frequently from 2004 to 2007. Its high popularity led the launch of "I am L image Generator" in 2006.^[2]
