On February 3rd, 2021, TikToker^[1] @alanajenks posted a skit in which she portrays a girl using the "look how small my hands are" technique to measure her hands against a man's, attributing the technique to "pick me girls" through her lip dub, garnering over 190,000 views in three years (shown below). This is one of the earliest known memes about the phrase.

Spread

Videos about girls using the phrase to get closer physically to men became increasingly popular on TikTok over the following years. On February 18th, 2021, TikToker^[2] @peternugget posted a video where he jokes about girls who use the technique, garnering over 799,000 views in three years (shown below, left). On September 1st, 2022, TikToker^[3] @charlwarlxx posted a video using the phrase that gained over 1.5 million views in two years (shown below, right).

On March 26th, 2024, TikToker^[4] @blackswangreygoose posted a video captioned, "'Where my hug at' son or 'look at how small my hands are' daughter," garnering over 1.8 million views in a week (shown below).

On March 29th, a screenshot of the video was posted to the /r/Explainthejoke^[5] subreddit, garnering over 8,000 upvotes in five days. On April 1st, the X^[6] gimmick account @insultsrare posted a screenshot of the video, garnering over 236,000 likes and 11,000 reposts in two days.
