About
Litmus Test For Social Class, also known as Which Is More Attractive?, is a catchphrase used in meme captions (primarily on Twitter) in which the participant is asked to choose between two or more different things, with the pressure of hidden assumptions being made based on which choice is selected. The trend, which began in late June 2023, is a spin-off of the similar trend A Pretty Good Litmus Test for Politics except it typically relates to hornyposting instead of politics.
Origin
On June 24th, 2023, Twitter user @Lameypilled[1] uploaded a picture of Livvy Dunne next to a photo of fellow influencer Breckie Hill, declaring that it was a good litmus test to determine the social class of the participant and posing the question, "This image is a pretty good litmus test of your social class: Which one of these people do you think is more attractive?"
This tweet was then followed up with a Twitter poll and a study from 2018 claiming that by picking Breckie Hill, people were supposedly admitting to being in a lower social strata (shown below). Prior to its removal, the tweet received over 3,200 likes, 1,700 retweets and 1,500 replies.
Spread
The following day, on June 25th, 2023, the Twitter account @gumbuzzler[2] tweeted the same phrase but instead used a picture of Ferris and Astolfo (both femboy characters known for looking feminine in nature but being males) earning over 80 likes in one day (shown below).
On June 26th, 2023, the Twitter account @Cougarlore[3] then used the phrase while tweeting out the image from the Who's Getting The Best Head? meme, referencing it as another way to use the phrase (shown below).
