Listen Up, Christopher is a series of video edit memes in which clips of Chris Griffin from Family Guy are interrupted by a deep voice-over that says, "Listen up, Christopher Griffin," then proceeds to lecture Chris about what he did wrong in the clip. The memes were popularized in January 2026 on TikTok, along with a sister format, Nightmare Freddy Lectures, which similarly sees Nightmare Freddy from Five Nights at Freddy's interrupt video clips to scold a character for doing something wrong.

Origin

On January 1st, 2026, TikToker^[1] @pluundrs posted an edit of a clip from Family Guy season 15, episode five, in which Chris Griffin announces during the new year countdown, "Some animals give me boners!" In the edit, Joe Swanson, represented by a deep text-to-speech voice, lectures Chris on why it was wrong for him to say that. The video gained over 2.6 million views in three weeks.

Spread

On January 2nd, 2026, the video by TikTok user @pluundrs was reposted to the /r/lobotomyposting^[2] subreddit, garnering over 630 upvotes in three weeks.

Later that month, TikTokers then began to post similar edits that begin either with the same phrase, "Listen up, Christopher," or a variation of the phrase directed at another character.

For example, on January 20th, TikToker^[3] @210_vinny posted an edit using a clip of Peter Griffin blowing a horn and Chris overreacting to the volume, with Chris ranting at Peter this time, garnering over 335,000 views in two days.

On January 21st, 2026, TikToker^[4] @randomeverythingreels posted a version of the meme where Peter scolds Chris for annoyingly playing a recorder, garnering over 154,000 views in a day.

Nightmare Freddy Lectures

As the "Listen Up, Christopher" meme spread, another format in which the FNAF character Nightmare Freddy interrupts characters in a similar manner was also popularized.

On January 20th, 2026, TikToker^[5] @michael415hi posted a version of the meme in which Nightmare Freddy interrupts Squidward for making fun of SpongeBob, garnering over 637,000 views in two days.
