The audio clip is taken from her May 2019 video "BYE SISTER" in which she outlines Charles' wrongdoings while the two were engaging in an online feud. The audio went viral on TikTok in February 2023 as a source for lip-dub videos.

Origin

On May 10th, 2019, Tati Westbrook uploaded a 45-minute video entitled, "BYE SISTER …" which outlines James Charles' wrongdoings, shaming him for not giving her proper credit for his success and for trying to manipulate straight men into liking him. The video has since been deleted but was reuploaded to YouTube^[1] in July 2020. Around the 25:15 mark of the video, Westbrook explains an instance where she witnessed Charles speaking openly and graphically about sex with his parents during her birthday dinner, which made her uncomfortable (shown below).

The clip gained viral spread in the following years. On June 9th, 2022, YouTuber^[2] Maxi posted the isolated clip, garnering over 50,000 views in 11 months. On September 12th, Twitter^[3] user @sedderaside shared it, writing, "Why this clip of Tati Westbrook is the best video of all time – A VERY IMPORTANT thread ‼️" where they dissect what makes the video so great, garnering over 18,400 likes in eight months (shown below).

On an unknown date in or prior to early February 2023, a now-deleted TikToker uploaded a video using the audio clip from "BYE SISTER," inspiring numerous videos that month lip dubbing to it (examples shown below, left and right).
