"Lift Yourself is a 2018 song by rapper and producer Kanye West. Following the surprise release of the song, and amid a flurry of controversies and criticisms of West's online behavior, the song was mocked for its lyrical content, primarily West's verse, which reads:

Origin

On April 28th, 2018, rapper and producer Kanye West tweeted [1] a link to his website "www.kanyewest.com" and the comment "Lift Yourself." On his website, a single media file was posted with the title "Lift Yourself." The post (shown below) received more than 27,000 retweets and 89,000 likes in three days.

The song (available below) featured only one verse with Kanye West rapping. He rapped,[2] "Poopy-di scoop/Scoop-diddy-whoop/Whoop-di-scoop-di-poop/Poop-di-scoopty/Scoopty-whoop."

Shortly after the songs release, people reacted both positively and negatively to the song, focusing primarily on West's "poopy-di" verse. Twitter[3] user Hospey tweeted, "When Kanye said 'POOPITY SCOOP, SCOOPITY WOOP POOP', I FELT THAT." The post (shown below, left) received more than 5,000 retweets and 14,000 likes in three days.

Others joked about West's perception of himself as an artist. Twitter[4] user @GavinDFernando tweeted, Kanye 2013: I am Shakespeare in the flesh. Kanye 2018: Poopidy scoop, scoopdiddy whoop, whoop, di scoop, di poop, poop di scoop di scoop di whoop, whoopidy scoop woop poop, poop diddy whoop scoop, poop! Poop! Scoop diddy whoop, whoop diddy scoop, whoop diddy scoop poop." The post (shown below, center) received more than 3,900 retweets and 15,000 likes in three days.

Twitter[5] user @Thenegrosanta tweeted a picture of Jim Halpert from The Office (played by John Krasinski and the caption, "Kendrick: breaks down complex issues and racial tensions in America in a single song Me: that's shit cool I guess Kanye: POOPY-DI SCOOP SCOOP DIDDY-WHOOP WHOOP-DI-SCOOP-DI-POOP Me:" The post (shown below, right) received more than 25 retweets and 100 likes in two days.

That day, Twitter[6] published a Moments page regarding reactions to the song.

On May 1st, 2018, Redditor [7] shinigamidannii asked the /r/OutOfTheLoop subreddit, "What's the deal with woop scoopie poopy?"
