About

Let's See Who Wins Vs. Dream refers to an exploitable image macro series where a character's image is shown beside an image of Minecraft YouTuber Dream captioned "let's see who wins" encouraging users to like and retweet to choose the character on the left and comment for Dream, who is simply labeled "HIM😒" as if discouraging viewers from making the choice. The original meme was posted to Twitter in June 2021 and inspired variations over the course of the year, particularly on Twitter and Instagram. The meme is a version of the Who Would Win? format.

Origin

On June 13th, 2021, Twitter[1] user @adamisfunny10 posted an image macro showing Minecraft YouTuber CaptainSparklez or "Revenge" fame's profile picture on the left and Dream's on the right, asking users to like and retweet for CaptainSparklez and comment for Dream, although comedically discouraging votes for Dream with the label "HIM😒." The post's comments are also disabled, completely disallowing votes for Dream. The post gained over 80 likes and 35 retweets in six months (shown below). This is the earliest known version of the meme.

People began photoshopping the meme that month, replacing the image on the left for comedic effect. For example, on June 19th, Twitter[2] user @RaymanFacts posted a version with Rayman vs. Dream, gaining over 16,400 likes and 4,700 retweets (shown below).

The format increased in popularity on Instagram in December. On December 16th, Instagram[4] page boomer.jim posted a version replacing the left image with a monkey from Bloons Tower Defense gaining over 10,000 likes in two hours (shown below, right).
