Let's Go Gambling and Aw Dangit refer to a series of gamblecore memes, namely video edits, based on an audio clip of a man exclaiming, "Let's go gambling!" followed by the repeated sound of a slot machine spinning and the man saying, "Aw dangit" as he loses every spin. The audio originates from a viral video made using Flipnote by TikToker @raxdflipnote and went viral throughout May 2024, inspiring further animations and lip dubs which often use the audio to portray someone trying and failing at something multiple times.

Origin

On May 12th, 2024, TikToker[1] @raxdflipnote posted a video animated in Flipnote where a man exclaims, "Let's go gambling!" then spins a slot machine unsuccessfully numerous times, saying, "Aw, dangit," after every failed spin. The video gained over 5.6 million views in roughly two weeks. The video was also uploaded to raxdflipnote's YouTube[2] channel that day, garnering over 272,000 views in the same span of time (shown below).

Spread

The video's audio became the subject of memes over the following weeks. On May 15th, 2024, TikToker[3] @chickenlover99gz posted an animation set to the audio that gained over 1.6 million views in two weeks (shown below). On May 20th, the original video was posted to /r/Clamworks,[4] garnering over 530 upvotes in 10 days.

On May 21st, TikToker[5] @shadygto posted a video using the audio that gained over 2.5 million views in nine days (shown below, left). On May 24th, TikToker[6] @rippin_lips_tv_ posted a video that gained over 2.2 million views in six days (shown below, right).
