Let's Fucking Go Ball refers to a reaction image of a screaming yellow tennis ball usually captioned "Let's Fucking Goooooooooooooooooooooo." Gaining initial spread on Twitter in March 2020, the image gained viral spread starting in late April 2020 with dubbed versions and use as an exploitable. The meme is sometimes recognized as a Cursed Emoji.
Origin
On September 21st and October 6th, 2007, iStock Photo user two3design[1] uploaded several cliparts of balls used in sports screaming aggressively, including cliparts of a baseball, a tennis ball[2] (shown below, left) and an 8-ball. On March 18th, 2013, two3design uploaded similar cliparts of a baseball, golf ball, and a collage of seven variations[3] (shown below, right).
On March 3rd, 2020, Twitter[4] user @gofthejungle23 captioned the clipart of the tennis ball "Let's Fucking Goooooooooooooooooooooo" and used the resulting image as a reaction to another tweet (shown below), gaining 3 likes.
Spread
In the following days, @gofthejungle23[5][6] reused the image in multiple replies on Twitter. Starting approximately on May 8th, the reaction image started spreading among the user's subscribers.[7][8] On March 13th, one of @gofthejungle's replies received over 380 likes.[9]
The user continued actively using the image to reply to posts through March 2020. On March 14th, @gofthejungle23[10] posted four edits of the original reaction image (examples shown below, left and center), posting[17] a deep-fried version on March 15th. Starting in mid-March 2020, the image saw notable spread on Twitter,[11][12] being used by multiple users as a reaction. On April 7th, 2020, iFunny[13] user Hotwheeis posted a similar clipart captioned with the phrase, gaining over 360 smiles in six weeks (shown below, right).
On April 22nd and 25th, the original reaction image was reposted by Instagram[14][15] accounts coochieemoji and cursed.emoge, gaining over 860 and 4,600 likes, respectively. On April 25th, Twitter[16] user @shinseinaken posted a voiced dub of the meme, gaining over 1,700 retweets and 5,800 likes (shown below).
Starting in early May 2020, image and video memes based on the reaction image received viral spread online, with multiple notable posts on Twitter, Instagram and iFunny.
