Lemonjak or Smoking Lemonjak is a Wojak meme character depicted as an anthropomorphic lemon person, in some cases smoking a cigarette. The character was first posted to iFunny as a Say the Line Wojak meme in September 2022 and slowly began to spread over the following years. The character saw a boost in popularity in April 2025 after a meme featuring it went viral on X / Twitter, inspiring further memes and a meme coin ($lemonjak) that month.

Origin

On February 11th, 2022, DeviantArt^[1] user SoyGemVault uploaded an edit of a Soyjak meme that depicts the character as a lemon, titling the post, "lemonjak," garnering over 2,100 views in three years. This is the earliest known meme depicting a "lemonjak."

On September 27th, 2022, iFunny^[2] user Heather7 posted a "say the line" meme featuring a different version of Lemonjak, in which the character says, "when life gives you lemons," garnering roughly 19 smiles in three years. This became the most popular version of Lemonjak going forward.

Spread

On November 15th, 2022, X^[3] user @The_HomeIander posted a meme featuring Lemonjak under a thread asking for examples of "nonsensical Wojaks and Soyjaks," garnering over 320 likes in roughly three years. On April 14th, 2023, iFunny^[4] user Cyberundertaker reposted the original version of the meme, garnering over 1,100 smiles in two years.

On May 6th, 2025, X^[5] user and YouTuber Frankie Fey (@frankiefeyy) posted a version of Lemonjak in which the character is shown smoking a cigarette, writing, "In what scenario does one use the smoking lemonjak," garnering over 36,000 likes and 2,000 reposts in a day.

Later that day, X^[6] user @Kaneko_Lumi quoted the post, begging people to stop sending them Lemonjak memes, garnering over 4,100 likes in a day.

$Lemonjak Meme Coin

On May 7th, 2025, according to DEX Screener,^[7] the meme coin $lemonjak was launched shortly after the virality of the X post by @frankiefeyy.
