The LEGO Yoda Death Sound refers to an audio clip taken from the video game Lego Star Wars: The Video Game, an adaptation of the Star Wars film series using LEGO-style animation and design. Online, the sound effect has been utilized in a series remixes, replacing the audio of dramatic scenes with the clip.
Origin
On March 29th, 2005, the video game Lego Star Wars: The Video Game was released in the United States.[1] Three years later, YouTuber posted a video of the character Yoda dying in the game. In the description, they wrote, "It's just so funny to hear the sound Yoda makes when he dies." The post received more than 30,000 views in 11 years (shown below).
Spread
On January 19th, 2019, YouTuber Bluster The Benevolent posted a video of the sound clip isolated. Within four months, the video received more than 305,000 views (shown below, left). Following the video's release, others began posting remixes of videos to include the sound.
Several months later, on March 7th, YouTuber MrMrMANGOHEAD posted a video remix of famous scenes from other movies and replacing their soundtracks with the Yoda clip. The post received more than 1.5 million views in less than two months (shown below, right).
