On March 8th, 2021, Redditor[1] beennr published a post to the subreddit r/mildlyp--is. It was a simple text post reading "Lego Piece 32557." The post (shown below) received 6 upvotes over the course of eight months and one comment, which was a hyperlink[2] to a website selling the LEGO piece.

On March 14th, 2021, Redditor[3] Evil_Toilet_Demon posted to the OkBuddyRetard subreddit a screenshot of a Google search reading "lego piece 32557" captioning the image "Me when i see ur mom". The Reddit post (shown below) received roughly 690 upvotes over the course of seven months.
The next day, March 15th, Redditor[4] Thomas-at posted the Google search screenshot to the r/196 subreddit. There, the post received roughly 6,000 upvotes over the course of seven months. Redditor[5] IrishSpaniard1 then reposted the screenshot to the r/teenagers subreddit a couple of hours later, captioning the image "When the lego is sus". This post received roughly 13,800 upvotes over the course of seven months.
On March 16th, 2021, Redditor[6] MrFox01 posted a meme to the r/memes subreddit, adding in a new LEGO piece "LEGO piece 53586" to the lore, which resembles a larger phallus. The meme (shown below, left) received roughly 65,500 upvotes over seven months. On March 18th, 2021, Redditor[7] RedDiamondFire posted a meme to the r/PewdiepieSubmissions subreddit, using a Drake format. The meme (shown below, left) received 45 upvotes over seven months.
LEGO piece 32557 received more attention in October 2021 in the OkBuddyRetard subreddit, where Redditors continued to use the LEGO piece as a bait-and-switch prank as well as moving the meme into more ironic territory. For instance, on October 21st, 2021, Redditor[7] AzraelApollo posted a meme using an ironic Breaking Bad format (shown below) which received roughly 4,800 upvotes in one day. Other LEGO pieces that look phallic also began to receive meme attention, like LEGO piece 98989.[8]
