About

Lamentablemente Falso is a reaction image and image macro meme popular among Argentinian and Spanish-speaking internet users. The meme translates to "Unfortunately False," and features an image of Argentinian sports journalist and influencer Germán Beder sitting on a black leather chair with his arms and legs crossed and a smug or confident expression on his face. The meme is often used to jokingly declare that a statement is false.

Origin

The phrase "Lamentablemente Falso" originates from Germán Beder's show Paren la Mano. While the exact origin of the Lamentablemente Falso meme is unclear, the image of Germán Beder sitting on a black chair with his arms crossed can be traced back to a December 3rd, 2024, article in Revistagente[1] magazine.

However, the earliest known use of the image as a meme is a February 25th, 2025, post by the Instagram[2] page @facubizarra, who posted a version of the meme that read, "This year I will pass ten courses," "unfortunately false." The post gathered over 400 likes in two months.

Spread

The meme continued to gain traction in 2025, as seen in a March 17th, 2025, tweet posted by the X[3] account @pilardriguez. The tweet translates to "Guys, how are you going to believe that there are 140,000 and 90,000 people watching a streaming program?" and features an image of Germán Beder alongside text that reads, "Lamentablemente Falso."

The meme can be seen in a slideshow posted by the Instagram[5] page @pibeslibertarios on March 25th, 2025, gathering over 7,000 likes in a month.

An April 26th, 2025, post by X[4] user @FM_Argentina also referenced the meme, gathering over 1,000 likes in a week.
