About
Lady Gaga's "I Switched Baristas" is a quote said by pop and movie star Lady Gaga to Caitlyn Jenner at Elton John's Oscars viewing party in March 2022. In the exchange, Jenner asked Lady Gaga why she doesn't see her at a local Starbucks anymore, to which Gaga replied, "I switched baristas." To viewers, this seemed like a white lie on Gaga's part meant to hide that she had no interest in interacting with Jenner, leading to parodies and memes referencing the catchphrase online.
Origin
On March 27th, 2022, Twitter user @BalmahnKalbasi posted a video of an exchange he filmed between Lady Gaga and Caitlyn Jenner at Elton John's Oscars viewing party before the 94th Academy Awards, noting that Gaga seemed "rather formal" in addressing Jenner. The tweet gained over 100 retweets and 600 likes (shown below, top). In a follow-up tweet, he notes that others have subtitled the video, making clear that Gaga told Jenner, "I switched baristas" after Jenner asked why she hadn't seen Gaga at their local Starbucks.

People are kindly putting subtitles on this moment I filmed yesterday. “Uhhh I have switched baristas..” should be a t-shirt. #LadyGaga #Shade #caitlynJenner pic.twitter.com/ImsYo5WAnG
