About

Ladies Please, One at a Time, also known as Ladies One at a Time Please, is a catchphrase used in memes, including image macros, since the early 2010s alongside images of rooms or subjects that stereotypically would not attract women to ironically suggest the opposite. In 2021, the meme went viral on Reddit as the phrase was associated with images of nerdy bedrooms. In April 2024, the phrase was then popularized on TikTok through memes in which an image of a phone screen with several notifications is shown under a variation of the caption, with none of the notifications being from women (aside from "mom), implying the poster is single and lonely. The trend, which often uses a CapCut template, was popularized on TikTok in April 2024 and is set to the song "B.E.D" by Jacquees.

Origin

One of the earliest examples of the phrase used in a meme was posted to Know Your Meme[4] on February 18th, 2011, by user Trick Lobo. The image shows a character from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic being followed by other female ponies (shown below).

2021 Reddit Trend

In 2021, a meme trend went viral on Reddit, particularly on the OkBuddyRetard subreddit, in which the phrase was used alongside images of stereotypically nerdy bedrooms and other subjects (examples shown below). Alternatively, the caption was also used alongside images of rooms where you might not want to hear someone say, "ladies, please one at a time."

TikTok Trend

On April 1st, 2024, TikToker[1] @vagoss._ posted a video set to "B.E.D." by Jacquees consisting of an image macro captioned "Ladies please one at a time" over a series of cellphone apps, including three messaging apps with no notifications bubbles and the Duolingo app with two notification bubbles, garnering over 53,000 views in a week (shown below). This is the earliest known example of the meme.

The meme gained viral spread over the following days. On April 4th, 2024, TikTokers[2][3] @ssjjasiah and @kailivesmatter posted versions of the meme featuring harsh messages from parents under the caption, garnering over 4.5 million views and 2.6 million views, respectively, in five days (shown below, left and right).
