Krissed or You Just Got Krissed refers to a series of bait-and-switch videos where a clip of Kris Jenner dancing to "Lady Marmalade" is edited to the end of random videos. The trend became popularized on TikTok in June 2022 and is similar to other bait-and-switch memes like Get Stick Bugged and Hey Stinky'd.

Origin

On April 2nd, 2012, Kylie and Kendall Jenner posted an amateur music video for "Lady Marmalade" from Moulin Rouge to their joint YouTube[1] channel, MsKendallandKylie, featuring members of the Kardashian family. At the 00:26-second timestamp, Kris Jenner dances and lip dubs to the song in a green dress (shown below). The video gained over 4.5 million views in 10 years.

On June 8th, 2022, TikToker[2] @wandakardashian posted a video showing an image of Kim Kardashian with her children, captioned, "i cant believe pete did this to kim, she was so happy with him," followed by a cut to Kriss dancing in the dress sped-up, captioned, "YOU JUST GOT KRISSED! SEND THIS TO YOUR FRIENDS TO TOTALLY #KRIS THEM! 🀣😝😁πŸ€ͺ" gaining over 4.5 million views in five days (shown below).

Spread

The trend spread over the following days, largely under the same original sound,[3] which was used over 12,000 times in just under two weeks. On June 9th, 2022, TikToker[4] @britneyforprez posted a version of the meme baiting with news about Khloe Kardashian, gaining over 4 million views in four days (shown below, left). On June 11th, TikToker[5] @ameera420 posted a version of the trend under another sound, gaining over 3.8 million views in two days (shown below, right).

The trend also gained widespread media attention. On June 12th, Dexerto[6] published an article about the trend. On June 13th, The Tab,[7] Newsweek[8] and Distractify[9] all published articles about it.

Get Stick Bugged Lol

Get Stick Bugged Lol refers to a series of bait-and-switch videos involving a swaying green stick bug. Typically, these clips begin with an unrelated subject that then rapidly changes, revealing the dancing bug set to different music. The meme exploded in popularity in late July 2020 on various platforms including Discord, iFunny, and Twitter.

Coconut Malled

Coconut Malled, or Coconut Mall'd, refers to a series of bait-and-switch videos in which a viewer is tricked into listening to the Mario Kart track "Coconut Mall." The trend first appeared on TikTok in November 2020, resulting in a number of variations over the following months.
