Kris' Eyes refers to memes and posts about the appearance of Deltarune protagonist Kris' eyes, which are covered by their hair in the game. Occasionally, one red eye can be seen, including for a brief moment as Kris falls into the Dark World. Posts about Kris' eyes started appearing online as early as November 2018, a month after the game's first chapter released. Kris' eyes became the further subject of discussions in July 2025, a month after the release of chapters three and four, on sites like X / Twitter and the /r/Deltarune subreddit.

Origin

In the video game Deltarune, the first chapter of which was released on October 31st, 2018, the protagonist Kris is designed with hair covering their eyes at all times. Purportedly, a single red eye can sometimes be seen under Kris' hair.

On November 14th, 2018, Redditor u/IamMrJay posted a comic to the /r/Deltarune^[1] subreddit in which Susie asks to see Kris' eyes. Kris reveals them and they're a sparkling red color. The comic gained over 1,000 upvotes in seven years and is one of the earliest known posts to reference Kris' eyes.

Memes and discussions about Kris' eyes continued over the following years. On November 26th, 2018, DeviantArt^[2] user TheTimeLimit posted a comic in which Kris is forced to show their eyes, which was posted as a voice over on the Dark Box YouTube^[3] channel on December 4th, garnering over 29,000 views in seven years.

On September 20th, 2021, X^[4] user @FactUndertale posted a screenshot of Kris' single red eye being shown through their hair as they fall into the Dark World, garnering over 4,900 likes in four years. On March 18th, 2022, Redditor u/TheDiseasedRat made a post to the /r/Deltarune^[5] subreddit sharing the screenshot and another showing Kris' red eye, titled, "So, y’all got any headcanons / theories for Kris’s red eyes, or is their eyes just normally red?" garnering over 1,400 upvotes in three years.

On June 5th, Redditor u/SmallBlueSlime posted a sprite sheet to /r/Deltarune^[6] in which they've added eyes to all of Kris' sprites through chapters one and two, garnering over 1,200 upvotes in three years. On March 5th, 2024, Redditor u/kit_ne_kiks posted a meme to /r/Deltarune^[7] showing how some people imagine Kris' eyes vs. how they imagine them, depicting them as similar to Undertale protagonist Frisk's eyes, garnering over 2,200 upvotes in a year.

On January 9th, 2025, Redditor u/TiraMelsu posted a comic about Kris' eyes to the /r/Deltarune^[8] subreddit that gained over 2,700 upvotes in six months.

On July 10th, X^[9] user @dogtroid posted a screenshot of a thumbnail by YouTuber RedRubyCat34 showing Kris with eyes, garnering over 6,000 likes in 12 days. The screenshot caused some debates in the comments over whether or not Kris looks good with visible eyes. On July 13th, X^[10] user @diingo_bell posted their own version of Kris with eyes, writing, "tried to resprite kris with actual eyes without making them look like a bug," garnering over 31,000 likes in nine days.

Notably, Kris appears with eyes in the fan game Deltatraveler by VyletBunni.^[11] On July 20th, X^[12] user @467Doggo posted an image of the Deltatraveler Kris sprite, writing, "No shade to deltatraveler but this sprite pisses me off," garnering over 12,000 likes in two days.

On July 21st, X^[13] user @HaywireGhost posted four drawings of potential eyes for Kris, writing, "my contribution to the kris eye dilemma," garnering over 20,000 likes in a day. The two sets of eyes on the right-hand side were compared to windshield wipers by some commenters.
