The Knight and Princess Trend or Knight Crying at Wedding is an animation meme trend based on an animation of a prince and princess getting married while the princess's knight, who is in love with the princess, cries while watching the couple. The original video was posted by TikToker @jony.org in February 2025, using a fake painting as the basis of the meme. It became increasingly popularized over the following months as people recreated the video, eventually becoming the subject of reanimations that replace the prince, princess and knight with characters from various fandoms.
Origin
On February 8th, 2025, TikToker[1] @jony.org posted a meme using a painting, possibly AI-generated, of a knight watching as a prince and princess get married. The prince says, "Forever?" and the princess responds, "Forever!" The scene then transitions to a zoom into the knight's helmet, showing him crying through his visor. The post gained over 29.7 million views in nine months.
Spread
In late 2025, several TikTokers posted recreations of the "Crying Knight" meme, either recreating it with another knight, princess and prince or replacing the characters entirely.
On October 27th, 2025, TikToker[2] @aayydnnna posted a recreation of the original video using original artwork that gained over 11.2 million views in three weeks.
On November 14th, TikToker[3] @xiphoid.com posted a version of the meme in which Shrek and Squidward are getting married and Shrek glances over at the knight, who is replaced with Shadow the Hedgehog, garnering over 2.9 million views in four days.
On November 15th, 2025, TikToker[4] @ssteph.mov posted an IRL recreation of the meme, writing in the description, "my fyp is filled w these videos lately so I couldn’t resist," garnering over 5 million views in three days.
On the same day, TikToker[5] @leaacdn posted a version of the meme about Twilight Sparkle and Flash Sentry from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, garnering over 14 million views in three days.
