Kismet Shoe Transitions refers to a series of TikTok videos where TikTokers toss their shoe in the air and the moment their foot catches it they are seen wearing a different outfit. These transition edits, first made by TikToker atikhunk in late July 2020, are typically set to the song “Kismet” by XIX and grew popular in August 2020.

Origin

On July 20th, 2020, TikToker atikhunk uploaded the first use of the show transition in a #fashionedit That gained over 16,400 likes in three weeks (shown below).

Spread

On July 28th, 2020, TikToker awpaxyboyy uploaded an early viral example of the transition and received over 617,300 likes in three weeks (shown below, left). On August 1st, TikToker zliang111 uploaded an example with the caption, "just dad heading out to deal with the people trying to ban tiktok" (shown below, center). The video gained over 4.1 million likes in 16 days. On August 6th, popular TikToker Lil Huddy participated in the trend and acquired over 2.1 million likes in 10 days (shown below, right). StayHipp^[1] published an article on the trend.
