kirramahaley_ Gender Reveal Boxing TikTok is a viral video posted by TikToker @kirramahaley_ in April 2024, showing her gender reveal party in which the baby's father is sparring with the pregnant mother (@kirramahaley_ herself) to reveal a cloud of pink smoke in one of the strike pads. The father is shown punching the "boy" pad multiple times until he finally tries the "girl" pad, which produces pink powder or smoke. The video inspired controversy across social media in 2024, predominantly resurfacing on Twitter / X and TikTok in June 2024.

Origin

On April 14th, 2024, TikToker^[1] @kirramahaley_ posted a video of her gender reveal party in which the baby's father was sparring with her while pregnant. The father punches the "boy" strike pad multiple times until punching the "girl" one, revealing a cloud of pink smoke or powder, indicating the gender. Over three months, the video received roughly 5.3 million plays and 127,600 likes (shown below).

Before the abovementioned video, various TikTokers^[2]^[3]^[4] uploaded boxing gender reveal party videos following the same format. The roles were reversed in many of the precursor videos, meaning that the pregnant woman was the one boxing and the man was holding the strike pads.

The video predominantly amassed engagement in late June 2024, when X^[5] user @TheArtOfWar6 tweeted the video, captioning it, "When you’re doing a gender reveal and just recently got into MMA," gaining over 41,000 likes in a week (shown below).

Around the same time, TikToker Madison Humphrey (@madison.humphreyy) reposted the video on TikTok, inspiring a slew of new comments shared on the video, dating back to June 27th, 2024 (shown below). One read, "Baby this was the redest of red flags," gaining over 44,600 likes in five days. Another read, "The fact he kept punching! 🫣," receiving over 24,100 likes in six days.

On June 28th, 2024, TikToker^[6] @mojustbetalkin posted a video in which she noted warning signs in @kirramahaley_'s gender reveal video, receiving over 481,000 plays and 9,900 likes in five days (shown below, left).

On July 2nd, TikToker^[7] @madison.humphreyy shared a parody of @kirramahaley_'s video, receiving over 19 million plays and 1.8 million likes in a day (shown below, right).

During the same timeframe, viral reactions to the video surfaced on X^[8]^[9] via quotes.
