Kirby, Jolly as Ever refers to a series of image macros depicting Kirby smiling and walking forward under a variation of the phrasal template "'king Dedede: god I hope I don't see that pink jolly fuck today,' 'kirby, jolly as ever:'" The original version of the meme was posted to Twitter in May 2022 and gained viral spread in 2023, inspiring new versions of the meme that year using redraws of the jolly Kirby image and sometimes variations of the phrasing.

Origin

On May 10th, 2022, Twitter^[1] user @jackamule posted an edit of a non-Unicode, cursed Emoji, ^[2] altered to make it resemble Kirby, under the caption, "'king dedede: god i hope i dont see that pink jolly fuck today, 'kirby, jolly as ever:' garnering over 34,200 likes in a year (shown below).

Spread

The original post gained viral spread a year later. For example, on April 18th, 2023, Instagram^[3] user howitfeelstochewfivegum posted the meme, garnering over 34,600 likes in three months. On July 7th, Twitter^[4] user @AmberThe4th posted a screenshot of the post, writing, "I FOUND IT," garnering over 23,000 likes in 10 days.

Over the following days, Twitter users began to post new variants of the meme. On July 9th, Twitter^[5] user @ThatOneArtist__ posted a version of the meme using different Kirby artwork, garnering over 17,000 likes in a week (shown below, left). On July 14th, Twitter^[6] user @KirbyMirror_Art posted a version of the meme using pixel artwork of Kirby, garnering over 7,400 likes in three days (shown below, right).

On July 15th, Twitter^[7] user @KoopsReturns posted a version of the meme using the artwork of Kirby from the series Kirby: Right Back At Ya! garnering over 6,600 likes in two days (shown below). On the same day, Twitter^[8] user @Swag_K1RBY started a thread collecting every instance of the meme, garnering over 27,000 likes in two days,

Later that day, Twitter^[9] user @SouprSpookr2020 posted a variation of the meme where King Dedede hangs out with Kirby, garnering over 6,100 likes in two days (shown below).
