About
The King Henry Method and King Henry Glow Up Trend is a TikTok meme trend in which people, mostly Asians, show old footage of themselves before having a glow up, claiming it is from before they watched or gooned to thirst trap TikToker King Henry (@kinghenryrn) then show more flattering footage of themselves or footage of someone else, portraying it as the results of watching or gooning to King Henry. The trend was popularized on TikTok in June 2025 as a parody of King Henry's content, which consists largely of him showing pre-glow up and post-glow up photos. Many examples of the trend mention using the "King Henry method" to glow up, which is sometimes jokingly defined as gooning to King Henry, with others simply suggesting the King Henry method is working out and eating right.
Origin
TikToker @kinghenryrn, also known as King Henry, is known for his lookism videos, many of which show him pre-glow up, then transition to more modern, flattering images of him.
For example, on July 21st, 2023, he uploaded a video to TikTok[1] showing pre-glow up and post-glow up photos, referencing the manga character Daniel Park from the comic Lookism, who he is often compared to, garnering over 6.1 million views in two years.
On June 14th, 2025, TikToker[2] @samurairamen1 posted a video where he shows footage purportedly of himself pre-glow up, then post-glow up footage, claiming that the glow up happened after he watched King Henry, garnering over 3.6 million views in 12 days. This is the earliest known example of the trend.
Spread
On June 16th, 2025, TikToker[3] @kevintrnn posted a video following the trend in which he captions each portion of the video, "before gooning to King Henry" and "after gooning to King Henry," garnering over 3.5 million views in 10 days.
On June 24th, TikToker [4] @walkemdownsocal posted a version of the trend that gained over 5.8 million views in two days.
As the trend continued to go viral on TikTok in late June 2025, King Henry began responding to videos that participated in it.
For instance, on June 26th, 2025, King Henry posted a video on TikTok[5] reacting to @walkemdownsocal's video, garnering over 140,000 views in under a day.
