About

"Kill Them with Kindness" Wrong. X Attack!, also known as "Kill Them with Kindness" Wrong. Curse of X, is a catchphrase format that involves a user refuting a statement, most commonly "kill them with kindness," with the phrasal template "Wrong. X Attack," followed by a large number of fitting emojis. The meme borrows its structure from the Love Is in the Air? Wrong format and its punchline from the Curse of X series of memes.

[UPDATING]

The format borrows its structure from Love Is in the Air? Wrong meme format in which image macros of The Big Bang Theory character Sheldon Cooper are humorously recaptioned with the phrase "Wrong! Sulfuric Acid" being a common punchline (examples shown below).

On September 20th, 2023, X[1] user @T4TWeskin wrote, "'Kill them with kindness' wrong. Rat attack," followed by several dozen 🐀 rat emojis. The post (shown below) received over 28,200 reposts and 94,800 likes in one week.

Spread

In the following days, other users on X adapted the post as a meme format, threatening various "attacks" followed by multiple emojis. For example, on September 22nd, 2023, X[2] user @_Holly_Fox posted a "fox attack" joke that received over 560 reposts and 2,000 likes in five days (shown below, left). On September 23rd, X[3] user @VanjesticShrimp posted a version that gained over 13,100 reposts and 53,100 likes in four days (shown below, right).

The format has also been used in combination with Curse of X memes. For example, on September 26th, X[4] user @little_paisano posted a version that received over 30 reposts and 90 likes in one day (shown below).
