Kevin Your Dog Just Died or A Normal Human Reaction To Tragedy refers to a viral video from the 2004 TV show Manhunt of a man telling fashion model Kevin Peake that his dog just died as an emotional prompt, followed by Peake striking a pose and a camera flashing. The out-of-context clip was posted to YouTube in December 2021 and went viral over the following months as YouTube recommended it to people.

Origin

On December 15th, 2021, YouTuber^[1] Edward D. posted a clip from the 2004 Bravo television series Manhunt: The Search for America's Most Gorgeous Male Model ^[2] where a male model, named Kevin Peake, is having photos taken on a beach. The host says, "Kevin, your dog just died," as an emotional prompt, after which he strikes a pose that at first looks sad then looks like an attempt at being sexy. He looks at the camera and there's a flash as if the camera just went off (shown below). The video, titled "a normal human reaction to tragedy," gained over 4.8 million views in three months, seeing a large boost in early 2022 as YouTube began recommending it to users.

The video inspired a lot of jokes about Peake's reaction in the comments of the upload, as well as on Twitter. The top comment on the video as of March 1st, 2022, reads "'Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional' – this guy probably," gaining over 34,000 likes by the same date (shown below, left). Many commenters made a joke about Kevin going through the five stages of grief in seconds (shown below, right).

The video also inspired jokes on Twitter^[5][6] throughout late February (examples shown below, left and right).

The video received viral spread through reposts. On February 25th, it was reposted to TikTok.^[4] It was then posted to 9GAG^[3] on February 28th. On the same day, YouTuber WashingMachine posted an original animation set to the audio of the clip, gaining around 140 views in a day (shown below).
