Origin

On December 10th, 2014, season four, episode 11 of the sketch comedy series Key and Peele aired. One of the sketches, called "Sibling Rivalry," sees Key and Peele play siblings Keith and Clive.

In the sketch, Keith shares at a family dinner that he's engaged to a presenter from The Price Is Right. Clive makes snide remarks about Keith's fiancée as he talks about how great she is. As the room gets more awkward, Clive calls Keith's fiancée "sloppy seconds." Their mother breaks an awkward silence by saying, "Keith, she sounds wonderful." Clive yells, "Shut up, Mom! Silence from you! You're cut off!"^[1]

On October 3rd, 2025, TikToker^[2] @jake.bruce.ezio posted the clip of Clive yelling at his mother under the caption, "How it feels being mad at someone IRL because you're mad at a game," garnering over 1.5 million views in three months.
