#Kanyeiplier, or simply Kanyeiplier, refers to a trend and hashtag on Twitter about the YouTuber Markiplier and musical artist Kanye West being in a relationship. The parody relationship between the two briefly reached the trending section on Twitter in early 2021, later being referenced in memes and online discussion.

Origin

The first confirmed tweet about #Kanyeiplier came from Twitter^[1] user @masterfulspade2, who tweeted about his friend filling in "Kanye" in every blank part of a Markiplier-themed fill-in-the-blank. This tweet was made on January 2nd, 2021, and received 187 likes in 24 hours (shown below).

Spread

Within a day, the hashtag #Kanyeiplier became a trending topic on Twitter. This moment was captured by Twitter^[2] user @nessiemonsterwa, who tweeted a side-by-side comparison between the original tweet mentioning Kanye, and the trending hashtag a day later. The comparison tweet received 379 likes in four months (shown below).

Many Twitter users quickly followed the trend shortly after, creating their own photoshopped memes of Markiplier and Kanye being a couple.
