Jumanji Guy is a nickname given to Reddit novelty account /u/Snowpaw11. The user is known for submitting memes and fan art in which they express their obsession with 1995 adventure film Jumanji, it's sequels and spin-offs, and with the film main villain Van Pelt in particular.

Origin

On February 4th, 2019, Reddit account /u/Snowpaw11 was created.^[1] Starting on the same day, the user submitted multiple memes featuring Poptropica video game character Myron Van Buren (shown below, left and right), who is a reference to Van Pelt, the main villain of 1995 film Jumanji.^[2]^[3]

On March 17th, 2019, Snowpaw11 posted their first Jumanji meme to /r/dankmemes subreddit,^[4] where it gained 76 upvotes in four months (shown below).

Spread

In the following months, Snowpaw11 posted multiple memes based on Jumanji, it's sequels and off-spins, Poptropica and 1924 short story The Dangerous Game to /r/dankmemes, /r/memes and /r/Poptropica.

On July 24th, 2019, Snowpaw11 posted a Starter Pack meme captioned "Guys I'm Attracted To" starter pack" and containing images of Van Pelt belongings which gained over 40,000 upvotes in two days (shown below).^[5]

In the following days, Snowpaw11 became known as "Jumanji Guy" in meme communities on Reddit, with several of their posts exceeding 10,000 upvotes count.^[6]^[7]
