Jotaro Hat refers to the hat worn by the character Jotaro Kujo from the anime and manga series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Jotaro's hat first appears in part three (Stardust Crusaders) and sports a unique look that confuses readers due to the back of the hat seamlessly blending with his hair. In memes, the hat is often used as an exploitable where it's added to other meme formats or various images and image macros.

Origin

On October 6th, 2012, the first part of the anime readaptation of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure started airing. This immediately brought a resurgence of interest in the series, with people starting to look forward in time to how future parts would be adapted. Due to how part three introduces mainstay concepts, it is often credited as the main starting point and focus of the series, so when the adaptation was released, people immediately started looking into how Stardust Crusaders would look once animated. This led to the first meme about Jotaro's hat being posted on the 4chan board /a/^[1] (animation) on October 28th, 2012 (shown below).

Spread

With the anime series for Stardust Crusaders airing on April 5th, 2014, and the second part of its release on January 10th, 2015, memes about Jotaro's Hat became more widespread online into the latter half of the 2010s. This led to the Twitter account @TeamGOATFace^[2] to post a meme about someone who got their hair cut into the shape of a hat (shown below).

It then became a meme to photoshop Jotaro's Hat onto other pictures, as can be seen with the meme posted to the SpaceBattles.com^[3] forum on February 14th, 2017, by the user ShaneWallis123^[4] in which Vladimir Putin is seen swimming with dolphins wearing a Jotaro Hat (shown below).
