Origin

On May 19th, 2017, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s photographer, Adam Scotti, posted a photograph of Trudeau jogging through a group of students taking prom pictures in Vancouver (shown below) on Twitter.[2] The photobombing went viral, and Scotti’s post received more than 1,500 likes on Instagram[1] and 1,700 retweets and 7,500 likes on Twitter within three days.

On May 20th, Redditor Artvandelay1[3] posted the photo of Trudeau to the thread “Justin Trudeau jogs through prom photo and nobody notices” in the /r/canada subreddit. The post received more than 23,900 points (83% upvoted) and 1,500 comments.

Three days later, on May 23rd, Redditor santorumsandwich[4] posts the photo on the /r/photoshopbattle subreddit. Within 24 hours, the thread has received more than 33,600 points (81% upvoted) and 590 comments.



The original photo and the photoshop battle has been covered by several news sites, including TIME,[5] Glamour,[6] HuffPo,[7] and more.
