Origin
While the true origin of the meme is unknown, the first known usage is an image of a with a top hat edited on. The image dates back to October 5th, 2004, first used in an image index with the file name JazzHandsKitten.jpg.[1]
Spread
On January 26th, 2014, Reddit user igby012 submitted an image of a dog with their hands in the air to the subreddit /r/aww with the title "JAZZ HANDS!!".[2] The post has since gained 2,738 points (94% upvoted) before being archived.
