On April 14th, 2019, while Lizzo performed at Coachella 2019, Janelle Monae was filmed in the crowd cheering for her.
Spread
Fans quickly drew comparisons between Monae and the You're Doing Amazing Sweetie meme and Amy Poehler's character filming the Plastics in Mean Girls. Twitter user @krisienner[1] posted the picture with "You're Doing Amazing Sweetie" as the caption (shown below, left). User @blaquecranes[2] tweeted a GIF of Poehler from Mean Girls, gaining over 150 retweets and 2,100 likes (shown below, right).
Monae noticed the pictures spreading on Twitter and thanked @krisienner, who posted the pictures, for not including her sweaty armpits (shown below). The pictures and responses were covered by Mashable.[3]
