James Charles' Bachelor TikTok Post refers to a viral video in which YouTuber James Charles starts a game of what he calls "TikTok Bachelor." The game involves a TikTok user dueting Charles' original video in hopes of dating him. The video solicited various suitors and inspired other TikTokers to start their own TikTok Bachelor game.
Origin
On January 10th, 2020, James Charles posted a TikTok video in which he describes himself in hopes that he will find someone to date via the platform (shown below). The video gained over 958,900 likes in three days. In the video, Charles says, “Everyone on here is either in a very cute relationship or is painfully single. Unfortunately for me, I fall into that second group of people, surprise, surprise! In 2020 I’m trying to change that and put myself out there a little more and I want to get wifed up so I want to play TikTok Bachelor.”
Spread
On January 10th, 2020, TikTok user @brayden_osborn was inspired by James Charles's video to start his own TikTok Bachelor and collect a series of duet videos for himself (show below, left). The video garnered over 1,900 likes in three days. The next day, TikTokker @kevliejenner posted a sincere application by dueting Charles (shown below, center). The video received over 83,800 likes in two days. On January 12th, TikToker @roberttolppi moked the video by creating a comedic animation to the sound of Charles' video (shown below, right). The animation accumulated over 202,300 likes in a day. Paper Mag,[3] Dexerto[2] and Insider[1] have all reported on James Charles' TikTok video within the first week of it being posted.
