J.G. Wentworth refers to commercials for the diversified financial services company J.G. Wentworth, which aired during daytime television programming in the early 2000s. The advertisements have been widely reference online, similar to commercials for mesothelioma lawsuits and the homeopathic product HeadOn.
Origin
In the early 2000s, J.G. Wentworth released a television commercial in which various people yell the phrase "It's my money and I need it now!" out of windows. On January 14th, 2008, YouTuber PrzFtr uploaded the commercial to YouTube (shown below).
Spread
On April 24th, 2008, YouTuber karlinpimsler uploaded a J.G. Wentworth opera-themed commercial, which garnered more than 850,000 views and 880 comments over the next nine years (shown below, left). On January 2nd, 2010, YouTuber DowntownLouBrown's channel uploaded a parody video in which a guy yells "Hey, shut the fuck up!" at the end of the original commercial (shown below, right).
On November 7th, 2011, Redditor Lunchable_ submitted a post titled "J.G. Wentworth," featuring a 60's Spider-Man image macro with the caption "It's my money and I need it now!" to /r/funny (shown below, left).[1] On December 30th, a similar 60's Spider-Man image macro was posted by Redditor Geckos to /r/funny (shown below, right).
On February 9th, 2012, Redditor Handsome_Harry submitted a J.G. Wentworth-themed "rage comic": to /r/fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu[5] (shown below, left). On May 3rd, Redditor Maxatron4000 submitted a picture of a bear with the caption "It's my salmon / and I want it now" to /r/AdviceAnimals[4] (shown below, right).
On June 27th, 2016, Tumblr user j4ya[2] posted a Nut Button image macro referencing the J.G. Wentworth commercials (shown below, left). Over the next eight months, the post received more than 173,000 notes. Two days later, Redditor Timetravelinghippie reposted the image macro to /r/FellowKids.[3]
On January 28th, 2017, the Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen Facebook page posted a photoshopped picture of the ""Cash Me Ousside"": girl over a J.G. Wentworth ad (shown below, right).
