It's Time to Play the Game. Time to Play the Game! refers to an exploitable video meme template of a large Black man singing WWE wrestler Triple H's intro song "The Game (Triple H)" by the metal band Motörhead, which was originally posted to TikTok by TikToker @marcanderson8 in mid-August 2024. Meme creators on TikTok used a green-screen CapCut template to add different backgrounds behind @marcanderson8 singing, "It's time to play the game. Time to play the game!" Many of the memes dealt with playing video games or being hyperbolically excited to do an activity, task or hobby.

Origin

On August 19th, 2024, TikToker^[1] @marcanderson8 posted a video of himself singing WWE wrestler Triple H's theme song "The Game (Triple H)" by Motörhead. He starts by singing the lyrics, "It's time to play the game. Time to play the game!" He then does a "Haha!" laugh. Over one week, the video amassed roughly 4.8 million plays and 487,000 likes (shown below).

On August 20th, 2024, TikToker^[2] @thememebuilder posted a video that green-screened @marcanderson8 singing, "It's time to play the game. Time to play the game!" over a new background with a POV caption reading, "You're shopping for souvenirs on holiday and Amir wants £40 for a mug." Over six days, the video received roughly 342,200 plays and 23,200 likes (shown below).

Going into late August 2024, others on the app used the TikTok sound^[3] of the abovementioned video. For instance, on August 22nd, TikToker^[4] @semaj_nation posted an iteration about playing PlayStation with a caption reading, "Pov your gf just asked to watch a movie," gaining over 1.8 million plays and 236,300 likes in four days (shown. below).

Increasingly viral iterations persisted in the following days, such as a video posted by TikToker^[5] @icon1136 on August 22nd, 2024, which showed @marcanderson8 in a bathroom stall with a caption reading, "When the first wipe has 0 friction," amassing over 9.1 million plays and 1.3 million likes in four days (shown below).

By August 26th, 2024, the meme's primary TikTok sound^[3] had amassed over 9,000 posts.
