It's So Preppy In Here or First Time Visiting Dear Hannah Prep refers to a viral video advertising the boutique clothing store Dear Hannah Prep where a young girl named Hailey, who is purportedly entering the store for the first time, walks in and exclaims, "It's so preppy in here." The video was posted to TikTok in July 2023 and went viral over the following months, inspiring parodies where users recreate the video in a sarcastic manner, also becoming the subject of green screen memes and other referential content.

Origin

On July 16th, 2023, TikToker^[1] @shopdearhannahprep, a page made to advertise the tween and teen clothing and accessory shop Dear Hannah Prep,^[2] posted a video captioned "POV it's your first time visiting the preppiest boutique in Texas," in which a young girl is filmed walking into the store under the context of it being her first time visiting. As she enters, she puts her hands over her mouth in excitement and says, "It's so preppy." The video gained over 2.3 million views in a month (shown below).

The video became the subject of memes, including parodies, over the following weeks. On September 8th, 2023, TikToker^[3] @bultan posted a crop of the meme captioned "POV you join adopt me" referencing a controversy the store was in around the time over suspicions that they didn't pay the girls in their videos,^[4] garnering over 1.2 million views in two months. On October 2nd, TikToker^[5] @matrixoreosuckz posted a parody of the video, writing in the description, "me when I enter a mans room," garnering over 4.1 million views in a month (shown below).

On October 7th, a version of the meme was posted to the /r/jschlattsubmissions^[9] subreddit, garnering over 200 upvotes in a month. On October 14th and 29th, TikTokers^[6]^[7] @chloe..campbel and @trainingindc posted parodies of the video that garnered over 1.4 million and 3.1 million views respectively in a month (shown below, left and right).

On November 1st, TikToker^[8] @silly_st4rz posted a green screen meme using a cutout of Hailey walking into the store captioned, "me going to my class every day," garnering over 3.6 million views in three weeks (shown below).
